A Note from George, Founder of MopStar

For a while I used one of the big cleaning introduction agencies to find a cleaner. Like a lot of people, I just wanted someone reliable to come round regularly and take that job off my list. Simple enough.

But it was not simple. I was paying a monthly fee to the agency on top of paying the cleaner directly. Two separate payments, every month, for one service. I had not really thought about it at first, but once I did, it was hard to unsee.

The real frustration came when my cleaner was ill. I had a standing order set up, so the payment went out regardless. The agency was supposed to arrange a replacement, but in practice that rarely went smoothly. I would end up chasing, waiting, and often just paying anyway for a clean that never happened.

It felt like the agency sat in the middle collecting fees without really taking responsibility for either side of the arrangement. The cleaner was not getting the full value of their work. I was not getting the service I was paying for. And the agency? They were getting paid either way.

So I built MopStar. Not to remove the middle man entirely, because some structure does help, but to make it fair. We charge a simple, transparent subscription to cleaners for access to the platform. Customers can find and contact local cleaners directly, agree their own terms, and sort payment between themselves. No agency sitting in between, no standing orders to a third party, no awkward calls trying to get a replacement.

The cleaners on this platform are independent professionals. They set their own rates, manage their own schedule, and build real relationships with their customers. We just help people find each other.
